Prime For Life
Prime For Life® is an evidence-based prevention program that helps people learn to reduce their risks of alcohol and drug related problems throughout life. PFL is taught by certified Health Educators from the Kent County Health Department.
Completion of PFL will be counted if the participant does the following:
- Attends both virtual sessions (3.5 hours each, taught live over Zoom).
- Actively participates with video/sound capabilities on.
- Turns in Release of Information (completed by parent or guardian).
- Turns in Parent/Guardian Interview (completed by participant).
- Completes the pre and post-test.
Successful completion closes the participant’s Minor In Possession charge.
Parents are strongly encouraged to attend but are not required.

- Read the Frequently Asked Questions
- View class dates and schedule your child in the program. After you sign up for a class, watch for a confirmation email in the email address you provided. You will receive a reminder 5 days before the class and on the day of the class.
- Complete the Release of Information. To be completed by parent or guardian. See Instructions for Completing & Returning Required Documents in green box below.
- Complete the Parent/Guardian Interview. To be completed by participant. See Instructions for Completing & Returning Required Documents in green box below.
- Complete the pre-test before the class. See the link for this test in the confirmation and reminder emails.
- Access and download the virtual workbook before the class. See the link for the workbook in the confirmation and reminder emails.
Instructions for Completing & Returning Required Documents
- Click on the link to open the document.
- Type your information in the boxes.
- Save the completed PDF document to your device.
- Attach the saved document to an email addressed to MIP@kentcountymi.gov. In the Subject/Title box of your
email, please put the student's name (for example “John Doe”).
If you are having difficulties with this process, you can also do the following:
- Complete the document on your device and send us a screenshot.
