Free Staff Immunization Education for Kent County Healthcare Professionals

Timely Immunization Practice Strategies (TIPS)

  • TIPS meetings are provided at the Kent County Health Department three times each year to discuss current immunization topics and strategies.
  • To request an invitation to our next TIPS meeting, please e-mail your request to Mary.Wisinski@kentcountymi.gov.

Immunization Update Sessions for Office Staff

  • Various sessions are presented by Kent County Immunization Nurse Educators and are offered at your office at a time convenient to you. Eligible participants will receive professional education credits (CME, CNE) for attending.

Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program

  • This program provides publicly purchased vaccines at no charge to VFC-eligible children through public and private providers.
  • For more information on the program please visit www.michigan.gov/vfc.

Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR)

  • MCIR consolidates patient immunization records into one easily accessible electronic record. MCIR also has the ability to assist with pandemic flu preparedness and can track vaccines and medications during a public health emergency.
  • Healthcare professional information and resources are available at www.mcir.org.
  • Kent County healthcare providers interested in accessing MCIR or training may email their requests to mcirhelp@kalcounty.com.

Free Immunization Documents for Kent County Healthcare Professionals

Fax the Kent County Health Department Immunization Program to request an order form at (616) 632-7299 to order the following:

  • Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) with MCIR statement
  • IP59 forms
  • Immunization Green Cards

Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting Systems (VAERS)

VAERS | Information for Healthcare Providers

The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA) requires healthcare providers to report:

  • Any adverse event listed by the vaccine manufacturer as a contraindication to further doses of the vaccine; or
  • Any adverse event listed in the VAERS Table of Reportable Events Following Vaccination that occurs within the specified time period after vaccination.
  • In addition, CDC encourages you to report any clinically significant adverse event that occurs in a patient following a vaccination, even if you are unsure whether a vaccine caused the event.
